Hawa Mahal, also known as the Palace of Winds, is one of the most iconic landmarks of Jaipur. The palace is famous for its 953 small windows (jharokhas) that look like a honeycomb. These windows were designed so that cool air could flow easily inside the palace, making it comfortable during hot summers.

Long ago, the royal women used to sit behind these windows and watch the street festivals and daily life outside without being seen by others. This design protected their privacy while still letting them enjoy the city view.

Hawa Mahal is built with red and pink sandstone, which gives it a beautiful glow, especially during sunrise when sunlight touches the front side of the palace. Visitors can go inside and climb up to the top floors to get a lovely view of Jaipur’s busy markets and old streets.
